"Solar Powered" nudibrach at Castle Reef, Itoman, Okinawa, Japan.

Super amazing conditions on the water today with flat seas and about 100ft of visibility.  We only got a couple of pics though. Charles didn't delete all the pictures like he did one time last year.  He just forgot to put the SD card back in the camera. He did manage to get a short vid and a picture (on the TG4 internal memory) of the massive "Solar Powered" nudi that took his lunch money. Thanks to the awesome group that dove with us today and we hope to see you guys again down south.

Thanks to this great group of divers who braved the weather yesterday and went diving with us! The dive sites were super calm with great visibility!  The ride back was a little sporty, which is typical of winters in Itoman.  There were lots of beautiful fish and corals, a small sea turtle and some noticeably large snapper. All in all it was a fun and adventurous day.

Everybody was Side Mount Diving! Awesome dives despite the choppy conditions.  The visibility at Kyan Light house had to be over 100ft.  We took the deep route and surveyed  the scattered pinnacles jutting up from 120fsw on the first dive. We toured the labyrinth of Angels Cavern and the shallow corals on the second dive. So far this is shaping up to be our best winter yet.

Big Momma sighted in Itoman, Okinawa.

The dives down south were amazing today! It was a turtle extravaganza in Itoman and Big Momma had the lead role. The flame orange sea anemone at Arasaki made the highlight reel but it was really the green sea turtles of Itoman that stole the show.  Thanks to the great group of divers we had today for making this wonderful day possible.

It's supposed to be winter in Okinawa but the sun was out and the seas were calm for a great day of diving in Itoman.  We are so grateful for today's group who came all the way down from the north end of the island to dive with us.  We started in the afternoon with a leisurely dive at Castle Reef and finished with a dive through the mazes and tunnels of Arasaki. These guys did great on both dives and we hope they will come to dive with us again soon!

We couldn't have asked for a better day and group of divers to start off 2020.  We started the year at Uenchi Table Corals for an awesome dive exploring the maze of rock fingers and white sands in between. A huge green sea turtle and her two remoras were resting in their usual spot, where the reef meets the sand. Our second dive of 2020 was at Castle Reef which was amazing as usual. A yellow boxfish, a small octopus, garden eels, trevallys, groupers, fussiliers, etc., were out on display as usual in the crystal clear water.  For our last dive we dropped in on Tokomasari Dome for a drift and immediately saw a large female whit tip reef shark.  We followed her into the cavern inside the dome but couldn't find her again. Tokomasari has some of the most beautiful and abundant SPS corals in Okinawa and is always worth the trip.  Along with the thousands of reef fish and corals we ran into a school of large milkfish at the southern end of the reef.
